Weekly Policing Update

Here is our weekly summary of offences and incidents affecting your community, reported to police during the period 27th January to 5th February:

Hill Estate, Houghton / Victoria Terrace, Hemingford Grey – Police received several reports of cold-callers operating in St Ives and surrounding villages on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th January. The door-to-door sellers claimed to be reformed offenders on a rehabilitation scheme. A police patrol later located cold-callers operating in Bluntisham and gave words of advice regarding their activities and behaviour.

There is no genuine scheme that involves selling items on the doorstep, and police advice is never to buy items from such persons. (Refs CC-27012021-0401 and CC-28012021-0291)

Potton Road, Hilton – Police and an ambulance were called to a collision between a car and a van that blocked Potton Road for a time on Friday lunchtime, 29th January. One person was taken to hospital as a precaution and recovery services towed one badly damaged vehicle away. One person was reported for driving without due car and attention. (Ref CC-29012021-0179)

Potton Road, Hilton – Two males are suspected to be responsible for smashing the wing mirrors of several cars left parked overnight in a lay-by on Potton Road in the early hours of Friday 29th January. (Refs 35/5475/21 and 35/5584/21)
