New Hilton Village Play Park now open following official launch

Hilton children are celebrating following the opening of a new village Play Park.

The Hilton Play Park is officially up and running following a launch party at the facility in Grove End on Sunday 15th December.

New play equipment including swings, slides and climbing structures are included at the new facility which was funded by a £52,901 grant from FCC Communities Foundation.

Graham Barradell, Chair of Hilton Parish Council is delighted that the project is now in use.

He says: “This vital facility is going to make a real difference to those who use it, as well as the wider Hilton community. We are extremely grateful to FCC Communities Foundation for providing funding as we would not have been able to go ahead without its support.”

FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community, conservation and heritage projects from funds donated by FCC Environment through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Richard Smith, FCC Community Foundation’s senior grant manager, says: “It’s wonderful to see something we have funded finally open and ready to make such a difference to children and families across Hilton. FCC Communities Foundation is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that benefit local communities and this is a great example of what can be achieved.”

Playground update April 17 2019

Great news!   We have agreed to replace the whole playground on Grove End, stripping out the existing and creating the facility as shown above, with a substantial grant from Wren – whom we thank enormously!

Hilton Play Park Scheme-01

We also wish to thank the group of able and willing volunteers who have helped us make Grove End into a friendlier and airier space, some of which the children can enjoy exploring in due course.  It will also make maintenance much easier!

There are two needs still to resolve  – the first of which is making up the necessary funds. For the children of the village, please do consider making a donation – however large or small.   The bank details for BACS transfers or if you would rather pay by cheque then do contact Nicola to advise her and make cheques payable to Hilton Parish Council – .

If the sum generated exceeds that needed for the main project, we will put the excess towards the grassing and improvement of the area around the playground.

PLEASE do advise Nicola Webster, our clerk, of any donations you make so she can keep a track of what money has been donated for this project and so we can thank you.

Amount donated – and whether cash / cheque / BACS.

The second need is to continue with the preparation and maintenance of Grove End – in readiness for the changes and thereafter to best ensure safe play.   Ideally we want a team who will work with the PC to become the playground maintenance team – please advise hNicola if you are willing and able to join.

Lastly, there will be the need to dispose of the existing play equipment some of which is quite serviceable.  If anyone is interested in the equipment please let us know. We may auction it to those willing to take it away.

Any comments / queries then please do get in touch.
